Kia will play a doubleheader with the Samsung Lions of the Futures League on Sunday at Hampung-Kia Challengers Field. Kim Do-young will play in a Futures game for the first time since her injury to boost her sense of play in the game.

After graduating from Dongseong High School, Kim started her professional career by receiving the first designation from Kia in 2022, and completed her career high season last year. She played in 141 games and had a batting average of 347 (78 hits in 544 at-bats), 38 homers, 109 RBIs, 143 runs, 40 steals, and OPS of 1.067. Kim was responsible for the MVP of the regular season and the golden glove for the third baseman.

Kim hurt his left hamstring in the regular season opener against the NC Dinos on April 22. He had a hit to the left in the third inning with one out, before going to the second base and getting hurt while going to the first base. 

Kim Do-young received an ultrasound examination at a good hospital on the 21st and was found to be able to train normally. Accordingly, he will train for technical training on the 22nd, participate in Futures games (against Hampyeong Samsung) on the 23rd, and live batting on the 24th, and wait for the first-team call-up. 

Coach Lee Bum-ho, who met with reporters after the Daegu Samsung match was postponed due to rain on the 22nd, said, "They say it's okay now. I've been working out little by little (within the extent that it doesn't interfere with the injury). I'm glad that I can play the Futures game from tomorrow. I'm going to be careful in the beginning even if I come up to the first team now." 

Coach Lee Bum-ho also stressed, "I think you want to come back soon. You must feel heavy watching the team in the midst of a hard time, and seniors are also looking for 'What are you doing?' and it is most important not to get hurt after returning." He added, "The rest of the players have held up well while Kim Do-young has been out, so Kim Do-young should come back and play a lot of winning games."

"Even if Kim Do-young returns, I have no intention of using her as a starting member. If she plays in front of fans, she might have too much motivation. After returning to the team, I will use her as a substitute for the first two games as a starting player, and then play defense," Lee said.

In which batting order will Kim be deployed after his return to the first team? "I haven't made up my mind yet. I am wondering whether it is better to have Kim at No. 2 or No. 6 with Park Chan-ho and Kim Do-young at No. 1 and No. 2," coach Lee Bum-ho said. "Patrick Wisdom is good at hitting home runs and getting on base a lot, so I wonder if we can put Kim behind Wisdom to strengthen our batting lineup."

He also added, "We are considering two options: if Kim Sun-bin enters No. 2, Kim Do-young will be placed in No. 3, and if Kim Do-young takes the lead as the second batter, Kim Sun-bin will be placed in No. 6."
